The accident happened on a narrow bridge where the cyclist claimed that he had waited for the car to pass but the vehicle hit him. The driver of the car however disputed the cyclist’s version of events.
The cyclist suffered thigh, arm, foot and rib cage injuries as well as a scar above his left eye. He also had to take two weeks off from work but later on decided to retire from his job as a printer.
The man regularly cycled 150 miles a week before the accident. But the incident left him traumatised that at one point he thought he would never ride a bike again. Fortunately, after a series of counselling sessions he was able to recover to make him start cycling again.
The car driver on the other hand did not admit liability for the accident but nevertheless agreed to a £5,000 out of court settlement.
