Persistence The Key To Your Success

Persistence is the key to succeeding at any business. Most people who start a home business quit just before they would have succeeded.

Every six seconds someone starts a home based business, but only about 3% have great success. The reason for this is the lack of persistence. Most people will tell themselves that “I will give this thing about 4 months and if I don’t make 100k I’ll quit” If you have that attitude save yourself some time and quit now!

I have seen people come into a business and be making 100K per month after 7 months. Then there are those that will make virtually nothing for 6 months or even a year and then start making more money than they made the previous year at their job in one month. The fact of the matter is they were both successful but one person just took a little longer.

So what if the second person would have told there self that they would give it six months and if it didn’t work they would try something else. They would most likely start another business and six months later start another. Some people just have a bigger learning curve than others, and they might not believe they can have success.

Believing in your ability is the biggest key to persisting in any business that you start. You must believe that you will be successful no matter how long it takes. When you lose that belief you will most likely quit. And what if you would have gone just one more day and your business would have taken off, but you quit.

I read a story in the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill about persistence. There was a man by the name of Darby that had the dream of going west and mining for gold during the gold rush. He borrowed the money for equipment to mine for the gold and of he went. After the first car of ore was mined and shipped to the smelter, he was told that he had found one of the richest mines in Colorado. After a few more cars of ore he was no longer getting any gold. He drilled desperately hoping to pick up that vein again.

Finally he decided to quit... He sold the machinery for a few hundred dollars to a junk man and took the train back home. Now the junk man decided to call a mining engineer to take a look at the mine. The engineer came back with the conclusion that the vein would be found just three feet from where Mr. Darby had stopped drilling. That is exactly where the gold was found! The junk man had made millions with very little work because Mr. Darby gave up!

So when you are tired and lose faith in what you are doing just think of Mr. Darby quitting just 3 feet from making millions.

Anyone can have great success if they have faith and persistence to follow through till they succeed.

If you want a lesson in persistence just watch a 3 year-old when they want something!
