To illustrate, consider a scenario when you try to start Microsoft Outlook, but the application freezes. Consequently, you cannot launch it. You need to exit it using Task Manager. Additionally, you might receive errors, similar to below:
“The system is dangerously low in resources”
Generally such errors can be resolved by restarting the computer, but you observe the application freezing issues even after regular attempts of rebooting it. You might also come across errors that suggest that IE has encountered an invalid page fault in wininet.dll module at a specific location.
Cause
Outlook might exhibit the behavior, described above, because of any of the following reasons:
1-Invalid page faults in wininet.dll usually occur if IE tries to use corrupted information stored in History folder.
2-Internet Explorer installation is corrupted
3-Microsoft Office installation is faulty
4-Most of the Outlook freezing issues root from corruption of Outlook.pst
Solution
You are advised to follow these suggestions to isolate the given behavior:
1-Launch IE and click Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and clear 'Use inline AutoComplete for Web addresses' and 'Use inline AutoComplete for Windows Explorer' check boxes. Delete all the temporary files, cookies and history using command prompt options. Reboot your computer and select the check boxes, which you cleared earlier.
2-If the issue persists, try steps like reinstalling IE and Microsoft Office. Make sure to install all the latest updates of them.
3-Open MS Outlook. If it still freezes on launch, your PST file might be corrupt. Run Scanpst.exe to try repairing it. Locate the tool using Search or Find option, while making sure that hidden file view is enabled. Start the tool and specify the PST file location. It will give a success message if repairs the file. If this cannot fix PST file corruption, you are suggested to use a third-party PST Repair Tool.
Moreover, these applications provide you an interactive interface to work with.
