There exist different options of oil rig jobs and a few examples of them are like Roughneck, Brazer and Welder, Motorman, Derickhand, Driller, Crane operator, Petroleum Engineer and so many other varieties of jobs. All of these jobs have specific duties, specific levels and according pay scale. As an example, Roughneck is the entry level job and the specific duty of this level is to maintain the oil rig properly which includes gathering and accumulating required tools, cleaning the deck, painting and any other such works. But at the same time, along with these primary duties at Roughneck stage any worker can learn more crucial work applications which can help to create opportune moments for future advancements. Even this entry level job is highly rewarding in terms of money and other facilities such as food and lodging along with incentive bonuses are also there when anyone works offshore.
Other options such as Brazer and Welder both fix pumping tools and wellhead to the casing of the oilfield. These are really risky jobs as all the works are in an environment of volatile gases along with fuels. But in terms of money they are also very rewarding. Keeping the machinery in the best condition is the job of a Motorman. Generally a Roughneck can be promoted to the post of a Motorman or anyone with previous experiences of the job in ship or in power plant can be selected.
The job of a Derickhand is also very risky as it requires the ability of working in great heights. The job of a Driller is more advanced but the most sophisticated and rewarding job is Petroleum Engineer. For this post extensive educational credentials and experiences are necessary. Apart from all these there are several other oil rig jobs which can attract several people who love challenges which can get some rewards also.
