Stronger binder system has resulted in increased robustness of magnetic layer. A new lubrication system has been included by Sony in this binder system. It ensures stable and smooth operations under heavy duty cycles. That is why the Sony LTO-5 ultrium tape delivers excellent performance even after ten thousand tape passes. The cartridge shell of LTO5 tape has been redesigned by Sony which features a deeper label cavity. This will help the barcode labels to better fit onto the backup tape cartridge, thus reducing the risk of falling off.
