Some people say, “Money doesn’t matter.” Oh yes it does! If you didn’t have money you would be homeless. You wouldn’t be able to supply yourself with the basic necessities of life. It’s your belief about and the value you put on money; that will determine whether you have any or not.
By saying that there are other things more important than money, well, you’re right and you’re wrong. Some people like to say that money doesn’t matter because it makes it okay for them not to try and aspire for more; it gives them the excuse for never achieving their goals.
Of course we all know that money can’t buy "real" love, health, attitude, class, a sense of self, etc. and attaining these intangible, priceless qualities brings richness into your life that money can’t buy. It’s when you aspire to reach your goals and attain them that the monetary gain you acquire can be shared to give the less fortunate what money can buy.
You can champion any cause of your choice. Children with Aids, CASA children; who are abused and neglected, who are lost in our Foster care system or any other cause that you will now be able to contribute to by giving the money you make; the money you say that doesn’t matter.
Being able to give money to those that need your help will enhance your life and others as well. Money can not only make a difference in your security and the comfort level in your life; it can impact so many other lives by your generosity.
On the other hand, if you truly don’t aspire for more and you are happy with the way you life is then by all means; keep enjoying it. It’s when you want to have more and you do nothing to go after it or you pretend that it doesn’t matter; is the time that you live with regrets.
Regrets are missed opportunities where we chose the wrong path. Ironically, at the time we made those “regretful decisions” we believed we were right. These are known as the lessons in life. Unless you choose to learn something from your mistakes you will more than likely make them again.
One woman I know has the potential to do so much more with her life. Not only is she warm, giving and witty. She’s absolutely beautiful too. Many opportunities have passed her by because she lives with the fear of failing if she tries something new. It’s confounding to watch her waste her potential. She stays in a minimum wage job; working in an up scale clothing store and professes that money doesn’t matter.
Now that she is getting older, she has no real savings and she is still “renting” a little apartment; the realization of working for the rest of her life is setting in. She has lived pay check to pay check for years; with no aspirations to change a thing.
Because she held onto an unproductive, negative belief about money she is now living with the consequences of that belief. So if you think money doesn’t matter, think again, for it can actually make all the difference in how you live your life.
