Michael Vaughan, the captain for England will make his much awaited return to competitive cricket when he plays for an England Academy XI in a one-day match against a Western Australia second XI in Perth. |

Vaughan was out because of a knee injury and he was limited to merely practicing in the nets during England's first Ashes test defeat in Brisbane at the weekend. He has hardly played since captaining England to their Ashes victory last year, making only a brief comeback at the end of May for his county side Yorkshire.
He was named player of the series when England last played for the Ashes in Australia and the announcement of his return to competitive cricket are raising hopes that maybe he could make the fourth test starting on December 26 in Melbourne.
Vaughan raised those hopes last week when he told the news that it will all depend on how his knees react to cricket and games, and spending a day in the field but some of us are aware that only time will tell. But the general news are that the rehab has gone really well and that he is quietly confident that within a month or so he may be available for selection.
However we shouldn’t be that confident since coach Duncan Fletcher is not so sure that he will make it to this test series.
