Both samples returned positive with no doubt that they were for steroids and not for anything else.
The suspension was not earlier announced due to the fact that Merriman reserved his right to appeal the suspension and if he sits out immediately Merriman would be able to play against the Raiders on November 26th.
“Per the collective bargaining agreement, the Chargers aren't allowed to comment on reports or results involving the league's substance abuse policy," Chargers spokesman Bill Johnston said Sunday night.
Merriman's suspension is just one of the many issues Schottenheimer has dealt with so far this season and his absence will affect the defense of the Chargers whom are already suffering from injuries.
