Laptop batteries are very costly to swap, & once they expire, if you don't have an additional battery, you cannot go anyplace without your power adapter & moreover you need somewhere to plug it in.

When using your laptop in the battery, use the battery fully until the computer gives alert message to you it going dead. Then plug your laptop until the battery is fully charged. If you having your laptop remain in the old place, keep it hooked up to AC power. There is no motive to run on the battery if it is not essential. If the battery is fully loaded & you disconnect it to take it to a different room for only some minutes, do not hook it back up to the AC power, let the battery run down. Why you ask?

Batteries have recall memory power; if they always use only a portion of their power, they not remember they have more to offer. Sounds comic, but that is how they work. They maintain the newer high end batteries do not have memory, but truthfully I have not had any knowledge with them so I cannot confirm that for sure. I can say that my iPhone after one and half years still has outstanding battery power even though I am blameworthy of charging it when it is not even nearly dead.

Macbook batteries go three hundred plus cycles before they go bad, a cycle is full charge to dead. I care for my cycles like diamond, my Macbook pro is three months used & I have only used seven cycles & go after the rule of fully charged to fully dead.

If you are handling the problem of low battery life & do have a few of the awful habits that I pointed above, there is a cure for this habit. Fully charge your battery & run it down entirely until the battery dead (until the laptop turns off automatically), do this three times & it should give your battery some more life, but don't imagine it to be like fresh one. This is the rule for all the batteries, cell phones, laptops, electrical items, etc.

Save battery power by modifying your power settings to set the display & hard disk to sleep after five minutes of not being touched the laptop. Never and not at all use your laptop in a sizzling hot environment, if you do, buy a fan tray for it to rest on.
