Purchasing a home is a complex affair. To make the home deal cheap and worthy the buyers are advised to take aspects like location, availability of finance and other legal aspects into consideration.

Purchasing a home is not now a 40+ affair as the the income of Indian youth has been manifolded in these years. The IT and retail boom have enabled the Youths to nourish a home dream before they reach forty. The easy availability of loans in the financial market has also propelled the momentum. However, purchasing a home is not an easy task as the buyer has to take several aspects in to consideration.

Doing proper research before buying first home is critical. But, without a proper research, the buyer can not get the best value for his investment. This article lists some of the key steps that all first time buyers should be looking at, to get them going on their journey to buy first home.

[1] First, decide what type of home suits your needs.

[2] Figure out the desired location, matching professional and personal circumstances.

[3] Decide how much amount you can afford to borrow as home loan - visit several lenders or home loan agents and use the resources of the comparison websites to identify suitable products.

[4] Find out what kind of home loan you can afford and have a detailed knowledge about different types of interest rates.

[5] Determine in what location you can afford a home.

[6] Research possible properties available in that location – check the Internet, newspapers and property publications.

[7] Inspect the possible properties thoroughly before taking any decision.

[8] Shortlist the possible properties of your interest.

[9] Discuss about the short listed properties with current home owners you know.

[10] Talk to residents of that location and read local newspapers looking for desirable and negatives like power, sanitation and water problems.

[11] Inspect your favourite properties more than once before purchase. Visit in morning, noon and night to have a proper knowledge about the security aspects.

[12] Complete building inspection and make sure that there is no litigation problems.

[13] Get your chosen property subject to finance by a reputed lender.

[14] Organise your required finances.

[15] Find a solicitor to organise the legalities and settle the disputes, if any.

[16] Start packing from the rented house once approval has been granted.

[17] Unpack once settlement is complete and try to add flavour to your new home according to personal taste.
