Earlier magazines were means of getting views about political scenario and reading stories or poems composed by many famous and infamous writers. In today’s world, the functions of these books have quite changed. They are now a means of advertising and social gossip.

They serve the purpose of entertainment in a different manner rather than any other providing true and gossip free entertainment. If we look through history, then we will find many famous names of literary stars, starting their career by writing columns in magazines. Today magazines are available in many forms and types. The distributions of these books are done in three ways- through paid circulation, free circulation and controlled circulation. In case of paid circulation, these books are sold on a per copy basis or sometimes through magazine subscription. There is a yearly or monthly fee that needs to paid for these digests and they are delivered every month to your doorstep.

In case of free circulation, the newsletters or digests are given for free only for a few days to promote the digest or something that is in the digest. Some of these are given as complimentary takeaways. Controlled circulations are done only for those magazine subscription which are used to get any data. Survey magazines are perfect examples of such distribution where the need of the publication is limited to a certain number and the purpose of the publication is limited and not of fun and entertainment.

The scenario has changed completely in today’s time. These digests do not serve the purpose they used to in earlier times. They are now more fashionable and eye-catching rather than of any brilliance. These digests are made keeping in mind the sole purpose of increasing sales and business.
