Fat will not recollect in the targeted areas if generally physical upkeep and fitness is maintained. There are a few different types of liposuction methods currently used by plastic surgeons, each with different risks and benefits. The most common are the wet and super-wet techniques.
During these methods, the surgeon will inject a certain amount of saline solution mixed with anesthetic and blood vessel constrictors into the target area. This helps loosen up fat cells so that may be broken apart more easily without causing unnecessary damage to surrounding tissue. A hollow tube called a cannula is then inserted and breaks apart fat as it sucks it out of the body, smoothing and evening out the contour of the body.
The risks of the wet and super-wet method include excessive bleeding, bruising, skin necrosis, poor healing, infection, temporary or permanent numbness, and abnormal lumps or pitting of the skin. Some of these may occur during surgery, such as bleeding, but many may not be apparent for weeks or many months after the procedure.
Individuals also tend to heal differently, so some complications such as extended bruising may not be sufficient cause to indicate an emergency or a signifier of poor healing. Even so, any concern or sign of something unusual should be reported to your plastic surgeon immediately as they could be indications of more severe problems.
Another method of liposuction that is gaining popularity is the ultrasonic assisted liposuction or UAL. Ultrasonic waves are used to heat up the targeted area. The fat below is then shaken, helping to break up the cells and liquefy them.
This method is most often used when fibrous fat is a concern, such as in the lower back. By liquefying the cells, the surgeon can then remove them more easily, which means less bleeding and bruising.
This method still carries many of the same risks as the super wet and wet liposuction, and also includes its own complication, which is the rare skin burn. The ultrasonic waves have been known to cause some mild to serious burns on patients, which can lead to scarring and poor healing; although this is relatively uncommon.
In order to avoid potential risks and complications associated with liposuction, follow all pre and post-op surgeon's instructions. You should report any unusual pain, bleeding, or other alarming signs or symptoms to your surgeon or doctor immediately after discovery.
And of course, choose a board-certified, highly experienced, and skilled plastic surgeon to perform the procedure. There are many shady cosmetic operations that operate illegally, especially overseas where there are few government regulations.
