Liposuction Can Be An Age Restoring Surgery

Though liposuction is not a weight loss surgery, it does target stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Liposuction can remove fat from the thighs, hips, and abdomen for a toned, contoured look.

Time is more often than not cruel. The bodies we once had often change and grow with time. In some cases, these changes are positive. Gone are the years of puberty and awkwardness, replaced with dignified features and graying hair that imply the wisdom we have gained through the years.

Unfortunately, many of the changes that occur to our bodies over time are negative and unwanted. Most of the time, these changes are the results of the lives we have lived. Wrinkles are the obvious sign of a long life lived, with sun and work greatly effecting the location and severity of wrinkles. A less obvious sign of aging, however, is weight gain.

We often gain weight as we age for a number of different reasons. Our jobs often keep our schedules always on the go, making fast food and meals at desks the norms. Furthermore, children often lead to weight gain, either through the child birth process or simply by being around the sweets and snacks that children love.

Fundamentally, however, our body chemistries change as we age. As the years go by, it becomes harder and harder for us to keep the weight off as our metabolism slows down. A little bit of extra weight on the thighs that may have come off with ease years ago lingers no matter the amount of exercise, showing our age in a new previously unexpected way. Thankfully, there is hope in the form of liposuction.

Though liposuction is not a weight loss surgery, it does target stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Common problem areas include the thighs, hips, and abdomen. Liposuction can remove the fat from these problem areas for a toned, contoured look.

During the procedure, the target area is numbed to eliminate sensation and make for a pain free surgery and recovery. Through a small incision a thin tube (or cannula) is placed and used to loosen and vacuum the thick, fatty masses from the body. After the fat is sucked out and the tube removed, the surgeon will seal the incision area and dress the wound.

Following surgery, it is important you have someone to stay with you for at least the first 24 hours. Some swelling and bruising should be expected for several weeks, but will dissipate over time. Results are not immediate, since the area will have some swelling as it heals. By the time your doctor removes the dressing around the wound permanently, you should be able to see serious results.

Before diving into surgery, know the risks. Any health concerns you may have should be talked about with your doctor ahead of time and dressed completely before the day of the surgery. While liposuction is very safe, be aware of any complications that might ensue during or after the surgery, and how to recognize them as soon as they present. Additionally, your doctor should also be able to work with you on a payment plan that fits your needs at the moment.

After researching your options and talking to your doctor, you might want to consider liposuction to not only remove that fat but turn back the clock to that younger, trimmer, fitter you that still lies deep within you.
