These 3 categories refer to the way the back and foot rest, or ottoman, function. All quality made lift chairs utilize a remote control or a set of buttons on the armrest to control the back rest, ottoman, and the rising/lowering base. A 2-position lift chair is also often called a TV-Recline lift chair. This is because the base reclines about 45 degrees, making it perfect to watch TV or read the newspaper. A 3-position lift chair reclines to a near horizontal position making it wonderful for sleeping, watching TV, and reading. The names 2-position and 3-position can be sort of misleading. These lift chair can actually go to any position up to their respective limit. The motorized back and footrest, controlled by the remote, can stop at anytime and will remain fixed in that position until you use the remote again.
Infinite position lift chairs are the Cadillac of lift chairs. The back rest and the ottoman are controlled by separate motors so it is possible to find the perfect position for just about anything. The use of the word infinite is very accurate because there are almost an infinite number of combinations available. In addition the back rest goes completely horizontal and in some cases a little bit more than horizontal. This can be great if you must have you foot elevated and these chairs are great to sleep in.
Whether you get an infinite position, 2-position, or 3-position lift chair it will quickly become your favorite place to read, sleep, and watch TV. They are available in almost every color and fabric combination as well so it will be a handsome addition to your living room.
