Keychain pepper spray normally comes in 2 different types of cases. You have the injection molded holster which is basically a small bottle of pepper spray with a hard plastic case molded around it. These types can be used very quickly. Typically all you have to do is rotate the trigger button to unlock and then press the button to shoot the spray.

The other type of keychain pepper spray comes in a leather like holster. These holsters hold a small bottle of spray like the injection molded holsters. The difference between the 2 is how you deploy them. With this type of holster it holds a bottle inside that you have to take out to use. The case is typically held closed with a snap. When you need to use it you unsnap the top of the holster and take out the bottle of spray and then use it. This type takes a bit more time to pull out and use.

If I had to recommend one of the two types of keychain pepper spray I would tell you to go with the injection mold holster type of pepper spray. I say this for a couple of different reasons. The first is because they are faster to use. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to defend yourself it is easier to grab your keys, push a button and go. With the other type of holster you have 2 extra steps, unsnaping the top and pulling out the bottle. In a self defense situation every second counts.

The other reason I would recommend this type of keychain pepper spray is due to the fact the injection molded case is very rugged. They are able to take a beating without harming the bottle they contain. The last thing you want to happen is your pepper spray being damaged without knowing it. That could result in it not working when you really need it to.

Pepper spray in general is a time tested self defense product that has proved invaluable to many people. Purchasing a keychain pepper spray is a great way to make sure you have protection where ever you are. In most cases you can pick up one for less than 10 bucks. They are only good for one or two uses but I'm sure you can justify spending 10 dollars to save your life.
