What you give them for your print business cards is often how they see you as a company or a service provider. Your design and message will be the ultimate factors that will help your target clients determine whether you get thrown in the trash or kept for future reference.

So how do you see your print business cards? Have you ever tried testing your business card printing whether it should be put in the garbage or not? See if your business cards pass the trash test with these factors.

Size matters.

Does your business card size match that of the standard 3.5 x 2 inches? If not, your recipients might have a difficult time fitting your print business cards inside their wallets or even their business card file box. You had just end up being thrown in the trash as you would only add to stuff that needs to be cleaned every now and then.

The quality of the paper and ink.

Is your business card stock made of quality material? Or does it easily fall to pieces with just a few drops of liquid? Always remember that cheap cards get trashed. If you want to test your business card quality, drop some liquid onto the paper; if the ink runs out and your paper gets perforated, then it is definitely the garbage can for your cards.

Do the color test.

Are your colors overwhelming? Or are they not enough? Color can make a huge difference on whether you will attract your target clients or not. Not enough color in your business card printing may not grab the attention of your recipients. But too much on the other hand may only distract your target clients from what is really important – the information written on the surface. If you have the standard black-on-white, you might get trashed because you lack creativity. But too many shades can also get you thrown in the garbage as you can overwhelm your recipients with your colors.

Your message.

Does your card convey a clear message? Do not confuse your target clients with elements that distract rather than emphasize what you want to say. Tell your target clients clearly of what you do and the benefits that your offer can provide them. Without a message to support your business card means the garbage can for you.

Lastly, does your business card match your image? Is it crammed with design elements that are not even halfway near to what you want to convey to your target clients? If it is out of synch then definitely expect your business cards to see the bottom of the trash can.
