Introduction on term papers and dissertation

Both term paper and dissertation are an important part in recognizing a candidate academic paper qualification.

Term paper is considered as a research paper which is written by candidates in an academic term whereas dissertation is a complete document that is submitted by an education course’s candidate to qualify for academic degree. Dissertation has another name which is thesis. Normally dissertation is applied to a doctorate or PhD submission while thesis is applied for bachelors or masters submission.

Both term paper and dissertation are an important part in recognizing a candidate academic paper qualification. Term papers generally written to describe a concept, argue a point, or an event. Normally the term papers will discuss a given topic in detail and typed pages in length which will be submitted at the end of an academic semester or quarter.

Normally the term papers and dissertation will be supervised by a committee. The committee will normally consist of an advisor, primary supervisor and some other academicians who are related to the topics of the term papers and dissertations. The committee members will be PhD holders. They will be responsible to read the term papers and dissertations and suggest ideas for improvement.
There are three categories of marks that will be given to a candidate for his or her term paper or dissertation.

One category is Accepted. Accepted means pass without corrections. This means that the term papers and dissertation is accepted by the committee. Another category is Revisions. Revisions category is for clarification of methodology, addition of some ideas, grammatical or spelling errors. The third category is Unacceptable. This category requires a candidate to revise his or her term paper or dissertation extensively from the beginning. Normally a candidate must withdraw from the program after he or she fails to submit a correct term paper and dissertation after the second defense.
