It is true that infrared technology is not very new but its usage is becoming more and more apparent.

What is infrared and infrared thermography?

Infrared actually refers to the radiation that is spread along the whole electromagnetic spectrum, which can be solely detected by the thermal imaging camera. The radiation range reaches to a certain extent, which helps in visualizing the particular object. This is done without turning on the lights since the range of radiation are detectable at the various ranges of room temperature.

If temperature is high, the radiation emission enhances, thus making a person determine the same from a safe distance. Electrical contractors often use infrared technology for detection. In most cases, infrared is used for security reasons. It can be said that the infrared thermography is used for various security purposes.

Firefighters use the infrared technology to look through smoke. Building contractors use the technology to look out for any kind of leaks in walls and ceilings. Also, the infrared camera is also used to understand the heating inefficiencies so as to determine that nothing goes wrong within the building, which might prevent large damages.

Trained professionals like electrical contractors use the infrared thermography to inspect the various circuit panels, motors, power transformers, motor control centers and much more. This is to check the electrical network for any damages.

Electricians can also determine imbalances in electricity flow and circuit overloading that that may cause damage. The cameras using thermal imaging are being able to spot contact wear and fuse stress. Thus, with infrared thermography it is possible to detect any problems before damage occurs and bring safety to a home.
