Tip #1: Support Groups - Research shows that if you share your weight loss experiences with others like yourself, you have a better chance of achieving your weight loss goals. Family members and friends who are also dieting make good diet pals.
However, if you can't find a dieting buddy locally, you can connect with an e-mail support group. There are several respectable ones online. For a low monthly membership fee, you can have full access to lots of advice and tips on dieting and other weight loss issues.
It's always great to have someone to speak to, especially when you get stuck in a rut. Instead of feeling harried in silence, or feeling like a failure, you can convey your questions and fears to other members who've been there and done that.
Tip #2: Cheat Days - Some diets are pretty severe in telling you what you can or can't eat. Many individuals thrive under strict diets, but others find them overly difficult to follow for the long haul.
A diet that incorporates cheat days may be ideal for someone who likes to enjoy their favorite foods, while still being on a diet. Go on and relish that big, sloppy cheeseburger or slice of chocolate cake!
After you've enjoyed your favorite fatty foods, you can go right back on the solid eating plan.
Tip #3: Drink Water - As humans, we carry a lot of water in our bodies, which means we can quickly get dehydrated. Drinking water regularly while on a diet can help you lose weight quicker. You don't have to drink tons of water. Instead, you can carry around your own bottle of water and sip from it periodically. A glass of cool, refreshing water before a meal will help to cut back on your appetite.
Tip #4: Pick an Exercise You Enjoy - There are many types of exercise. You may hate an exercise activity that someone else enjoys. Walking is one of the easiest exercises to do. It's a great low-impact workout. Other exercise activities can be fun too like: cycling, skiing, swimming, hiking, playing tennis, yoga, jogging, weight lifting, pilates and dancing.
Never feel like you have to do a certain exercise to lose weight. If you just hate exercising, maybe you need to find a fun activity you enjoy doing. Try out a few different activities and see if you find one you like. Exercise is an important part of any weight loss goal, so keep looking until you find the perfect activity for you.
Tip #5: Cut Down on Stress - This is problematic for many people because stress is built into everyday life. Many people deal with their stress by pigging out. Junk foods containing lots of fat and sugar are the most popular treats to eat while feeling stressed.
How often have you snapped up a candy bar, bag of chips, bowl of ice cream, etc. when you felt a lot of stress over something?
Too many times, I'm sure.
This is one reason why so many people fail to lose weight. Try thinking of ways to reduce the stress in your life. If you should feel the need to eat junk food because you're stressed out, choose to eat a healthy snack instead.
