This is mainly because over time, it is becoming increasingly possible to make electrical motors lighter, stronger and safer by utilizing new technological innovations during their design and construction. In fact, if you have an older motor, first consider updating it with new wiring, insulation and alloys. You will not have to face the commonly unforeseen problems of getting a brand new motor to fit existing mounting fixtures.
Electrical motors are now being fashioned using new metal and alloy options. By using metal and alloy options, which are able to cool themselves faster, heat can be dissipated more effectively, which can extend the life of the motor greatly. Because so many new materials are being used for electrical motor construction, these new motors are much lighter, which means that there is more energy packed in per pound.
T-framed motors are now replacing older electric motors, such as those with U-frames. These T-framed Electric Motors are much lighter and much more efficient. Additionally, because they are newer, these T-framed electric motors are also much more readily available which generally makes them a more inexpensive option.
Additionally, Cargo ships that previously used DC current electric motors, are now converting to AC current, which is a safer and more efficient current. This allows cargo ships to spend much less money every year to operate. The electric motors, which are now being used on the rudders, are capable of 360-degree pivoting, which eliminates the rudder and eliminates the drag along with it.
New polyurethane varnish products are being used in order to protect winding from the air. Air flow through the motor winding causes it to deteriorate. With this improvement, wire winding lasts significantly longer.
Newer grease products are being used to replace lithium. In electric motors that operated in high-temperature, these improved greases last longer and give more protection from the harsh friction in a high-temperature environment.
Among the latest innovations are improved steel bearing balls. These are made of stronger, longer-lasting steel and alloys. They can withstand higher temperatures and will perform longer without overheating.
Great improvements have been made in many top retailers and suppliers for electrical motors, including Magnetek and Baldor. AO Smith recently purchased Magnetek, and this purchase has led to some great improvements and innovations made in electric motors. Additionally, Baldor is responsible for purchasing Dodge/Reliance electric. Baldor produces some of the best and highest quality of electric motors, so this purchase likely means great things for new and innovative electric motor products.
Do you need to replace your electrical motor with a new one? Probably not. In most cases, your motor can be upgraded with these new technological advances and perform better than it was new.
