Starting college means moving into a new place away from home. Meeting new people, making new friends and learning to adjust to a new place are all a part of this new transition. Dorm life is great fun though your teen will often find themselves in cramped quarters. |

The area of the room will decide the choice of dorm furniture. The bed is an essential component so choose a bed that has extra room underneath to store almost everything including extra clothing. Opt for a soft, comfortable mattress that is made out of high quality materials. The sheets are where you can add a decorative touch to the room. Choose sheets in unique, colorful patterns depending on what your teen likes. You might also want to get decorative baskets, stacking crates, shelves or compact cabinets to store things your teen will use on a daily basis.
Have a small area for a study desk and a chair to go with it. Buy a compact table that comes with multiple drawers for storage and has a desk area that is roomy enough to sit comfortably and work on assignments and projects. Also, you need to select a microwave oven and a mini refrigerator as your teen is going to need it if they want to make a steaming cup of coffee and for chilled drinks. Choose from a lounge chair, couch or a bean bag chair for a comfortable and useful seating option. Whether you go for a stylish, traditional or sporty theme, remember to match the furniture and other accessories with the theme.
Bedside tables, also known as nightstands, are a perfect place to keep a small lamp, a bottle of water, a notepad or other necessities. You can also add little souvenirs collected by your teen over time or other decorative pieces for visual appeal. A variety of styles are available in bedside tables so you can choose a high-gloss finished table or even a simple, functional piece for your teen’s dorm. A bed side table not only looks appealing, but also makes a room look more organized and balanced. Choose bedside tables that offer multiple drawers at the bottom as a great storage option.
