The wide variety of these power tools which are available today has added up a lot of options and variety for users who are in the building profession or for homeowners who like to do some amount of DIY renovation jobs in the house. Among the many important devices that are absolutely integral to any building project, Impact drivers deserve a special mention. This is a tool which can deliver a powerful, rapid rotational force in the downward direction while being cordless and 100% mobile.

Impact drivers have a dual role to play-

They are more often than not used to loosen up nuts and bolts that are lying untouched for a long time or used as high-torque screw drivers.

They can also be used for tightening screws with a higher amount of torque, presumably greater than what a drill or hand screwdriver can provide.

A very important attribute of this tool is that they can drill right away into wood or metal with the right attachments – something which traditional drills can do. Like a normal tool however, they can be used to drill into wood, ceramic, metal or fiberglass too. The advantage in this tool is the hammering action which helps the driver to blow a double punch repetitively.
Impact drivers can be used like this –

An impact driver has a clockwise and anti-clockwise bit rotation movement. Accordingly you can screw or unscrew with it. There is a selector for choosing the movement and the first step to using it is to select the rotator direction

Insert the bit into the driver chuck and lock it.

These drivers have two sets of gear speed – high and low. Move the slide switch to choose the speed. “Low” can be used for torque purpose while the “High” is suitable for driving screws or quick drilling.

Select between Drive/Hammer and Drill mode.

There is a torque adjustment ring, located just behind the chuck and you need to adjust that for increasing or decreasing the torque.

Turn on the switch and your impact driver is ready to work.

A very handy and convenient tool, impact drivers are adored by building professionals, lumbermen, masons and homeowners. It is indispensable when drilling, screw driving or hammering blows are the requirements. A dual punch blow at an affordable price – is there another machine which can beat this?

Most impact drivers can be combined with other tools when the batteries can be interchanged. This makes buying your next impact driver tool very affordable.
