To make the presentation more interactive, you can effectively include text, graphics, video files, audio files, etc in the presentation. What's more, you can export the PowerPoint slides as web pages over the Internet. Despite being an effective tool, PowerPoint does have its own limitations. At times, a PowerPoint file can also become corrupt due to various reasons such as damaged MS Office or operating system, virus infections, power outages, human errors, etc. To recover from such issues, you should replace the corrupted file with an updated backup. If the backup is not available, then you should consider using a third-party PowerPoint recovery tool to recover ppt files.

Consider a scenario wherein you have to post your organization's Induction document, which is in the form of a PowerPoint file, on the organization's in-house web portal. To do this, you save the file as a web page. When you are about to upload the file, you open it for a final check but the file does not open. Instead, an error message is displayed:

“HTML Import Errors
Problems came up in the following areas during load: Data is corrupt (path/pres.xml)”

This error message signifies that the ppt file got corrupt when you converted it to a web page. Due to this, the file has become inaccessible.

Cause:
There could be various causes for this error message. They include:

There could be incorrect Custom Slide Show settings when you saved the presentation.
If a slide appears more than once in the presentation, the duplicate slide is incorrectly documented in XML, thereby making the PowerPoint file corrupt.
The PowerPoint file itself is corrupt.

Resolution:
First of all, check if you have got an updated backup of the corrupted file. If yes, then replace the corrupted file with the backup. However, if you do not have the backup then you should consider using a third-party ppt recovery tool that will enable you to recover PowerPoint files. Such tools perform ppt recovery by using fast yet sophisticated scanning algorithms.
