1. Bulk printing

Instead of getting prints at small quantities and in several sets, choose to have your advertising materials produced in bulk. And by bulk, this means you order at quantities not less than 1000.

With the process called offset printing, most of the cost is due to the startup cost, that is, the expense of setting up the films and plates for your file. When the number of orders increases, you distribute the cost to more copies, hence dropping the price of each. Do not worry about the cost of the additional paper and ink. 2. Opt for standard or preset shapes and sizes

Another concern is the size. Generally, the bigger the size, the more expensive the product, and if you choose to create your own size instead of opting for sizes that printers consider standard, you will increase your cost.

3. Use colors from the CMYK image space

The CMYK or cyan, magenta, yellow and black color process involves four basic colors but are mixed at different intensities to produce more hues and shades. Typically, this is enough to print pictures and graphics with color precision.

However, there are some cases wherein very specific hues are needed and this is where the Pantone inks come into the picture. These inks are based on the Pantone Matching System or PMS wherein unique hues are created, usually used for logos. And these are added expenses since this is considered a fifth color.

To avoid this, try to stick to common hues which can be produced through the CMYK process.

4. Choose aqueous solution

Aqueous solutions in gloss offers instant enhancement to images since the pictures look more vivid. It also provides a certain level of protection for the printouts in terms of water and fade resistance. On the other hand, ultraviolet (UV) coating gives a more intense sheen and increased protection but this comes at a higher price. If you want a lustrous surface, aqueous coating may suffice.

5. As much as possible, avoid custom jobs

Basically, stay away from custom jobs because this would almost always entail additional charges, unless the printing company specifies that they offer inexpensive custom costs or if they do not charge anything at all for it, e.g., size alterations.
