We all are consumers and are likely to be sold on anything if presented and handled the right way. So if this is a consumer driven world why do so many people in sales have a hard time selling their product?

I have seen and heard numerous stories of how people had a sale and a opportunity for future sales laid in their lap but totally blew it. That still to this day amazes me how that can happen.

Well here are some tips that could save you sales or increase them drastically if applied.

The first and most important in my opinion is when you make your first sale, follow-up with the customer. You could follow-up with a "thank you" email and include an advertisement for other products you sell. You could follow-up every few months. If you follow up with someone that lets them know you care and gives you the opportunity to make more sales to this person in the future. You want to do this with every sale until this becomes a habit. One thing that I have learned is to truly become successful you must sincerely want to help and care about other people.

Another good idea is you could upsell to your customers. When they're at your order page, tell them about a few extra related products you have for sale. They could just add it to their original order. Also give your customer examples of how this extra product or upgrade could be useful because that make the customer see themselves with that extra product and its usefulness. You want to make sure you do this with every sale. Play the law of averages.

A great idea to get more exposure is to tell your customers if they refer four customers to your web site, they will receive a full rebate of their purchase price. This will turn one sale into three sales. Remember the more exposure the better and giving an offer like this will definitely increase your exposure. People love to save and more people than you think will refer friends and family if you have a good product. Again make this a habit.

Now this will help you in sales and exposure so I highly recommend it. When you sell a product, give your customers the option of joining an affiliate program so they can make commissions selling your product. This will multiply the sale you just made. A lot people want to make extra cash so offer this to everyone.

Another way to boost sales is sell the reprint/reproduction rights to your products. You could include an ad on or with the product for other products you sell. You could make sales for the reproduction rights and sales on the back end product.

The next technique to increasing sales is you could cross promote your product with other businesses' products in a package deal. You do this by including an ad or flyer for other products you sell and have other businesses selling for you. When you ship out or deliver your product, include a coupon for other related products you sell in the package. This will attract them to buy more products from you. Some people also may not think of these other products on there own and will be persuaded to purchase more products by the coupon. So this is something you should do with each sale.

Now think about this one, when you send your customers a catalog of add-on products for the original product they purchased if they enjoy your product they will buy the extra add-ons.

This could be upgrades, special services, attachments, etc. This ensures that you get the most out of a sale. Also you want to, if you can make this a habit as well.

This next thing and what I consider a must is selling gift certificates for your products. You'll make sales from the purchase of the gift certificate, when the recipient cashes it in. They could also buy other items from your web site. When a customer purchases a gift certificate you might as well count that as a sale because they are paying for it which basically ensures you a sell in the future.

Last but not least and just as important as the other techniques, is to send your customers free products with their product package. The freebies should have your ad printed on them. It could be bumper stickers, ball caps, t-shirts etc. This will allow other people to see your ad and order. Remember like it said before the more exposure the better keep thinking of more ways to get the word out about your product or company.

Well there you have it, very simple ways to increase your sales. Now I know selling a product no matter what it is is not the easiest job in the world but it's not the hardest. There is a lot of great techniques to make sales happen effortlessly and to tell you the truth you can be successful just using a few. But if you want to be the best you can be I would recommend using as many techniques as possible consistently and when using all these sales techniques together you can’t fail. I hope these tips are useful and remember if you apply them your results will be amazing.
