These cells draw energy to be stored from wall power outlets with the help of a cordless battery charger, which plugs into the outlet. You should keep the battery fully charged to ensure best performance of your power tool. In fact charge the batteries after each use.
Here is a quick guide so that you understand how to charge your power tools.
You’ll need three things:
A cordless power tool
A battery charger
A cordless power tool battery
Now,
a. Switch off your power tool and allow the motor and all the moving parts of the tool to stop if its running.
b. Safely remove the cordless battery from your cordless power tool. Refer to the operation manual of your power tool for instructions regarding how to remove the battery if needed.
c. If it is still warm or hot, keep the battery aside and let it cool for some time. This would help avoid overheating the battery during charging.
d. Then, plug the battery charger into an active wall power outlet. Ensure that you use the charger, which was supplied along with your tool. Avoid using a substitute, however, if you do not have the original battery charger, see to it that you use a charger that matches the voltage of your battery(this is highly unrecommended!). By Mismatching the voltages you may even run the risk of damaging your tool or charger or even creating an electrical fire, explosions, poor battery life and performance.
e. Now, insert the battery into the charger. Ensure that the battery is charging. Notice the light indicator on your charger. If it is red, it’s charging. If the indicator turns green, your battery is fully charged. Some indicators have flashing and constant lights.
f. You simply have to remove the battery from the charger, unplug the charger and put the battery back into your cordless power tool.
There are two tips about charging your power tool. For your convenience, they have been listed below:
When charging a battery for the first time, let the battery charge completely before being used in the tool. Failure to do so will significantly reduce the life of your battery.
If you charge your battery after every use, you can maximize the amount of time you can work with it. Try and ensure the contacts on the charger and the battery are clean and free of corrosion and rust.
