How To Allow More Money Into Your Life Using EFT |
||||
What were your early beliefs around money?
We learn from our parents, extended family, peers, teachers and society what money is and isn’t from an early age. Most of our beliefs are conditioned in the first seven years – so this is the time to pay most attention to. Start at the beginning. What was your parent’s attitude towards money and wealth? Consider the examples you were shown as well as what was said (children learn most from example). These ideas and ideals are often passed down generation to generation. Gary Craig (the founder of EFT), calls this the ‘writing on our walls’. This writing creates and defines our comfort zones, what we can and cannot do. Our subconscious mind is made up from these writings and works to protect us from going where we are not comfortable being.
Here are some common beliefs you may identify with:
---Rich people are greedy/rude/arrogant
---You must have a good education to make money
---Money goes out as fast as it comes in
---I am (my family is) poor
---You must work hard to make a living
---Money does not grow on trees
---You must be born rich or be very lucky
---There is never enough money
---Money is the root of all evil
---Once you have spent money, it has gone
---It is spiritual to be poor
---Wealthy people are show offs, and nobody likes a show off
---You should not accept money or gifts from strangers
---Life is hard
---If you make too much money someone else must lose out-
---We cannot afford it
This list is far from complete. Think back through your childhood and see what money related phrases or attitudes were repeated time and time again. List each of the beliefs as a setup phrase. For example:
‘Even though rich people are greedy, I deeply and completely accept myself’
‘Even though you must have a good education to make money, I forgive and accept myself’
‘Even though money goes out as fast as it comes in, I know because mum told me so, and mothers are always right, I love and respect myself’
Next to each phrase, mark how true this is for you. Do a round of tapping and then re-evaluate. Keep repeating the tapping sequence as many times as needed for each statement until they no longer provoke emotion in you.
Now create a positive choice. This should be a different perspective on the theme of the tapping statement, perhaps an insight gained while tapping on yourself. Some suggestions include:
‘Even though I thought rich people are greedy, I accept myself and I choose to see that many of them are very generous with their wealth’
‘Even though I thought it was spiritual to be poor, I accept myself and I choose to realize I can help more people with more money’
‘Even though I thought it was wrong to accept gifts because Mum told me so,I accept myself and I choose to welcome gifts with gratitude, allowing others the pleasure of giving them’
