How Do I Reinstall My CD-RW Drive

CD-RW drives sometimes stop working because of a corrupted driver on the computer system.

A driver is a set of instructions that enables the operating system to properly use the applicable hardware. You will need to reinstall the driver for the CD-RW drive in order for it to work again. The process is mostly automated; you just need to remove the corrupted driver first. Instructions

Open the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel." If you don't see it, look under "Settings."

Double-click "Device Manager." If you don't see it as an option, click "System," select the "Hardware" tab and then click the "Device Manager" button.

Locate "DVD/CD-ROM drives" and click the "+" next to it.

Right-click on the CD-RW drive and select "Uninstall." The system will ask you to confirm your choice; do so.

Restart the computer once the CD-RW driver has been uninstalled. A new driver will be installed automatically
