How discount health plan works- A case study of ASI’s Premier Health Saving Plan

Discount health plan is non-insurance approach to reducing healthcare cost. Discount health providers such as ASI’s premier saving plan seeks to provide medical saving for people with no health insurance coverage, or simply people who cannot afford health insurance coverage.

Notwithstanding, discount health plan will work well as a supplement for someone that already has health insurance coverage.
Discount health providers are a network of physicians’, hospitals, dental facilities that have agreed to provide medical savings benefits to all members in the provider network. However, for those physicians’ or facilities who are not members of the provider’s network. The discount health providers do negotiate with those providers outside their network on behalf of their members. Discount health providers secure medical saving for their members below the retail prices of such services.
Discount health providers also network with both optical and pharmaceutical outlets like CVS, Wal-Mart, sears, JC Penney to provide total health savings to members in their network.
How do members benefit from these services? Members are expected to pay a one time registration fee to join these network discount plan providers and a monthly premium that cover the entire family. For ASI- members pay a $24.95 for the dental plus plan which also includes optical coverage with free mobile phone plus 250 minutes every month. While members pay $52 monthly for the premier health plan which also include the dental plus plan and free mobile phone plus 250 minutes from GoVios Wireless.
Of the 27 discount health provider listed in open directory, ASI’s premier Health plan stands out. ASI’s Premier plan comes with six health benefits, two policies and one members-only benefit as outlined below.
The Premier Plan health benefits include:
1. Health care - Members of the plan will save 30-40% and more on all hospital stays and doctor visits. This includes outpatient, inpatient, hospital stays, or any procedure performed by a participating doctor.
2. Dental Care - Participating dentist have agreed to provide members and their families with preferred prices that feature savings of up to 60%, sometimes more. It covers examinations, cleanings, x-rays, all dental procedures including orthodontics and cosmetic procedures. Once again, all preexisting dental problems qualify with no waiting period. All of our dentist are in private practice and are members of the American Dental association.
3. Optical Coverage. Members and their families will save up to 60% on eye care needs. Prescription glasses, contacts and eye exams are available at over 2500 optical centers nationwide such as Sears, JC Penney, participating Pearl Vision centers and many others. There is no limit to the number of glasses purchased per family!
4. RX plan. We provide a walk-in prescription card that can be used at most pharmacies throughout the country including some of the most familiar outlets such as Wal-Mart, Kmart, CVS, and Osco - 85% of the pharmacies nationwide participate in our program. Members will save an average of 21% on each prescription. Name brand and generic prescriptions are covered. We cover every prescription medication and there are no limits to the number of prescriptions that can be filled. Membership also enables participants to save about half of what they would normally spend by using our home delivery system for medications. Most of our associates and members will use this for their maintenance medications.
5. Chiropractic Coverage. Members can visit their chiropractor and save up to 30-40% each visit!
The Premier Plan Policies include:
1. The accident plan. This plan offers members $2,000 of coverage with only a $100 deductible. Members and their families are covered at work, at home, at school or at play. Members can go to any hospital emergency room or doctor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with no limit to the number of accidents.
2. Accidental death/Dismemberment. If the policy holder or a dependent is unfortunately killed in an accident, or should they be dismembered, loose a leg, arm or eyesight, their family will receive a $5,000 policy.
The Premier Plan also comes with a member’s only benefit:
• Free Cell Phone and Free cell phone minutes. After 30 days on our Premier Plan all customers and associates will receive an absolutely free cell phone and 250 minutes free each month provided by GoVios. There are no contracts or termination fees associated with the free cell phone.
