With the current condition of the economy, financial budgets have become a current trend in social behavior. History has been know to repeat itself from time to time. When comparing the economy to fashion, one thing is constant. History reveals that in times of hardship, trends can be seen resurfacing.

While the 1950's hosted one of the economy's worst recessions, we can credit this crunch as the motivating contributor to such style elements as the Mini Skirt. With the birth of the miniskirt in the early 1960's, it was designed around an era of time that required people to be financially conservative. Clearly, the mini skirt is not something one would consider a conservative fashion garment. However, the conservative element is not in the styling but in the construction. This particular garment required less fabric and in a time when companies, innovators, and individuals were conserving costs it made perfect sense. Since the mini skirt required less fabric, designers were spending less money on construction and materials.

Disappearing into the fashion trends of the 70's, miniskirts resurfaced again in the early 1980's. The postwar recession of the 1980's caused a stir of financial concerns once again. Unemployment rates were rapidly increasing. Surely, everyone remembers the unique fashion influences of the 80's. How can we forget? Denim waist miniskirts with lace frills, cotton Lycra miniskirts that you could just pull-on, and those terrible crayola crayon color spandex miniskirts. These garments were reasonably priced and once again resurfaced as companies struggled to produce cost effective garments. The only difference between the 50's mini skirt and the 80's mini skirt was the updated silhouette.

Now, we find ourselves in 2008. One could easily presume that due to the current conditions of the economy, buying miniskirts is not only efficient but trendy. This past summer featured some short hemlines and silhouettes. Even fall fashion items have lifted hem lines. The look has simply been updated with the addition of "legging's".

I think everyone can agree that creating a budget is more important than the history of the miniskirt. With the help of anImage Consultant you can look fashionable with respect to your budget. You can be conservative and find the best places to maximize you dollar. Budget shopping does not mean you have to compromise quality or personal style. It simply means that there are some killer deals out there as companies are trying to maximize their floor and retails sales. Cashing in on lost retails sales, sample sales, or package deals is a great way to conserve spending costs. Leave the miniskirts for the fashion designers and young 20 somethings... Own your image!
