Holi, the festival of colors, is the most popular spring festival of India. It is celebrated in the month of March, or April as per the Hindu-Calender. Spring season is idealized for its vivid natural beauty and newness best compliments this colorful festival. It is basically celebrated throughout India to welcome spring season and win God's grace for land's good fertility as well as harvest.

2011 Holi is going to be celebrated on Sunday, March 20th. Like other Hindu festivals, the day is associated with numerous interesting legends. The most famous legend is of Prince Prahlad who was a a intense devotee of Lord Vishnu. Due to this, the concept of burning Holika came into being. People are seen making large Holi bonfires at their places to mark this great event and destroy all evil spirits. It is considered as the second most popularly celebrated Indian festivals after Diwali.

Besides being a festival of frolic and fun, it is related to immortal Krishna-Radha's love. The festivity and the exuberance of the season is spectacular. It is the only festival, which is celebrated without considering social taboos and involves intoxicating beverages and sweets made from opium. The festival is represented by the love play of Radha and krishna.

“Brij Holi” is quite famous worldwide for its sportiveness, liveliness, vivacity, hilarity and gaudiness.

It indulges all people, respective of their age, gender. They celebrate it with the spirit of colors forgetting all social bifurcations of caste color and creed for once. People prepare delicacies like 'Papris' and 'Gujhias' that are definitely mouth watering. The customs and traditions Holi are diverse according to varied regional distributions.
