What may be the cause for this drastic change? The reason for young people to suffer from high blood pressure may be due to certain diseases, unhealthy food practice, smoking, drinking and stress. The precise cause of high blood pressure cannot be pinpointed. However, there are certain factors that can increase the risk of developing high blood pressure. High blood pressure can be due to kidney disease, heart disease, narrowing of arteries, or tumors of the adrenal gland. Sometimes high blood pressure is caused by medications like decongestants or birth control pills. Excessive alcohol intake can increase your blood pressure. Continuous intake of diet containing heavy salt and low calcium can also increase your blood pressure. Physical or emotional stress and insufficient sleep may also raise your blood pressure. Lack of physical activity or exercise may be also one of the reasons for developing high blood pressure in younger age.
Most of the young grown-ups who are busy with their profession have no time to relax, which leads to physical and mental strain and stress. When you are exposed to long periods of stress, your body gives physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral warning signals that should not be ignored. When these warning signals are ignored, it leads to high levels of stress resulting in other risk factors such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure or heart disease. Researches show that stressful situations can cause your blood pressure to increase temporarily, and that it is not sure that stress alone causes long-term high blood pressure.
Studies reveal that young adults with high blood pressure exhibit harmful effects on the heart and blood vessels. Young people with high blood pressure who get less than the standard amount of sleep may face an increased risk of heart disease and stroke. The most important effect of high blood pressure is the damage it does to the arteries particularly the coronary arteries. This effect builds up over a long period, leading to coronary heart disease.
So it is important that busy young adults should have their blood pressure checked regularly, at least if they face some warning signals. This ensures to keep your blood pressure under control. Adopting healthy lifestyle habits and diet habits prove to be an effective step in both preventing and controlling high blood pressure. Blood pressure medications can be added if lifestyle changes alone are not effective in controlling your high blood pressure. High blood pressure can be controlled with natural remedies and changes in diet and lifestyle. Trying to reduce your stress can improve your general health, including your blood pressure.
Many physicians will not advise young adults to take blood pressure lowering medication, but instead will recommend them to do some exercise and reduce weight. This is probably to avoid unpleasant outcomes which may result when you start blood pressure lowering drugs at a younger age.
