To illustrate this problem, first of all keep in mind that MS-PowerPoint file gets corrupt even when you are working with it. It stops you from doing any work. In addition to this it throws an error message as described below:
“This is not a PowerPoint Presentation.”
Or
"PowerPoint cannot open the type of file represented by [filename].ppt."
When you try to open corrupt presentation, you receive messages like, low memory or low system resources. Additionally, you suffer data loss as your file refuses to open. All the data of the PowerPoint presentation remains untouched.
Cause:
All these error messages appear on the screen because of damaged or destroyed PowerPoint presentation or file.
Resolution:
You can easily open damaged PowerPoint presentation by following undermentioned steps:
Insert the Slides into a Blank Presentation:
1. Go to File menu >> New.
2. Select a blank presentation.
3.Go to Insert menu >> Slides From File.
4.Locate the corrupt presentation in the appearing dialog box.
5.Select the presentation and select Insert.
6.Save the presentation.
Corrupt presentation slides must be pasted into a new presentation.
To save the presentation use RTF formatting.
After performing these steps, you can open a PowerPoint presentation. If, you cannot open it, then there is a need to opt for third party PowerPoint Recovery tools.
