Are we witnessing Instant Karma? Did Paul find and marry his own Yoko Ono? |

I admit as an avid Beatles fan I just don't quite know what to make of Heather McCartney. I remember very well being determined to give her every benefit of the doubt during their engagement, figuring Paul's children's dislike of her as a natural response to having one's mother replaced (especially by someone your own age). I wanted to get to know her myself - at least what can be learned through the press, and keeping in mind all's not what the press says it is.
So far I'm not at all impressed.
The first red flag in my mind was the night she threw her wedding ring out of the window, later retrieved by Paul's guards. I'd loved to have been a fly on the wall in that room that night. Could this have been her "it's me or the pot" ultimatum she gave Paul? I don't think so, I think that came later. It was obvious though that this was going to be an interesting marriage.
I remember the sick feeling I got when she lumped marijuana with cocaine and heroin, dismissing them all with complete disgust. This is when 'she' reported that she told Paul he wasn't allowed to smoke weed anymore. I thought, "The nerve!"
Next I was hit by her utter lack of knowledge about The Beatles, as she was never a fan. Listening to "Get Back" at dinner she turned to Paul and asked, "Is that you?" Unbelievable! If something should happen to Paul, Heather would represent him in all future Beatle affairs. That scares me. A lot. It should also scare Paul. A lot.
Recently she admitted that she hated Paul's association with The Beatles till she saw it helped her agenda, which is land mines (of course a noble cause - but that's not the point here).
She also made the absurd claim that she understood and admired the late Linda McCartney better than Paul! In the same breath she expressed alarm that it seemed no one liked her, and that Paul comforted her by showing her cruel press releases about Linda. This must have been ancient articles taking pot shots at Paul's getting married or that Linda wasn't a musician. That was soon forgiven and I don't ever recall not liking Linda. Quite the opposite.
Are we witnessing Instant Karma? Did Paul marry his very own Yoko that he feels needs defended from the public? Deja Vu. Is that Lennon I hear laughing from the sky?
I don't know Heather on a personal level. The press makes her appear rather snobbish, judge mental and a bit ignorant. But one must consider the source. I really hope Paul is happy. I kind of hope he sneaks off and puffs when he wants too. I know I'll be watching this unfold and totally expect to be surprised over and over.
