There are different brands of laundry detergent to choose from, all claiming that their brand would make the bubbles last longer than the others, will clean the clothes better, will smell better. Skin soaps is not that different from a laundry detergent, the only difference is its use, which is for the skin. How about bubble baths for those long luxurious baths in a bath tub. Most probably most of those makers of laundry detergents, skin soaps, bubble baths' claim about their products are true, I say most probably because I am a loyal user of a certain laundry detergent and skin soap (I am not at liberty to mention the brand), moving on, as I have said their claims would probably are true, but even if their products gives a whole lot of bubbles, it still will not work if your water is still a hard water.

I for one did know that there is hard water or a soft water; I took it for granted that was just plain water, that there is no such thing as hard water or a soft water. There is more to water than meets the eye. Before we could use water properly we have to make sure first if it’s a hard water or a soft water.

Hard water contains minerals like calcium and magnesium that greatly affect the water's capability to work properly at our respective homes; this also means that water is most likely not a potable water. Laundry detergents and skin soaps loses their effectiveness when you use them with hard water. When a laundry detergent was used in a hard water, this would make the clothes rough and stiff, while skin soap cannot be properly dissolved so the tendency is it would remain on the skin when used during a bathing or even as simple as washing your hands. Moreover, it will leave marks on everything that hard water washes. Hard water also has an effect with the water pipes; it could actually clog up the pipes, which will lessen the water flow to the taps, showers, faucets, etc. For this you need to get rid of those minerals for water to function properly, which is where water softener comes in.

Water softener as the word suggested, softens the water by trading the minerals that could be found in hard water. This process is called ion exchange. The most common replacement of the minerals that are found in hard water is sodium. This is a chemical treatment that uses a mechanical appliance attached to your water supply system. A water softener will last for many years, it only needs a little maintenance and to be filled with salt occasionally. A water softener mechanical appliance has a salt or sodium chloride, because it is the mineral that helps mix up a strong brine solution to flush it through the zeolite or beads, which is why soft water has an after taste of saltiness. There are different types of water softeners such as time operated water softener and water meter controlled water softeners. The cost of water softener would depend on how much hard water is being processed by the water softener and it will also depend on what type of water softener that you want to use.
