Going to a baby shower? Advice for buying a gift

Learn how to select the perfect baby shower gift. Give the parents to be something sensible, affordable, and necessary for their baby.
You’re going through you mail one day and you come across an invitation to a baby shower. Inside is a gift registry card and you go to the computer to look at the expectant mother’s wish list. There are tons of gifts to choose from, but which choice is right for you? My rule of thumb; her needs are more important than her wants.
Gifts on a baby registry usually include clothes, feeding supplies, baby safety items, nursery furniture and decor, etc. The people closest to the mother-to-be usually take care of the expensive stuff like furniture. So focusing on the small necessities, like clothing, is a good place to start. Not only are clothes a must-have, but they are inexpensive, too. You don’t have to buy a $50 outfit (and yes, some tiny baby clothes do cost that much). You have cheaper options such as, onesies, tee-shirts and baby socks. And if you do decide to buy a complete outfit, go for popular department stores like Target and Wal-Mart. You are sure to find nice and inexpensive options there.
The mom will also need feeding supplies, and this is another area where the inexpensive, yet vital must-have items are plentiful. You can never have enough bottles and nipples for a growing baby, and formula is another great option for those moms who won’t be breastfeeding. The baby will also need his/her own cutlery and tableware (the adult ones are too dangerous for the baby to use), plenty of bibs, and food. When you think of a baby shower gift, baby food will probably not be one of the first things to come to mind, but a handful of this stuff can be a great help to the mom. If you want to get creative with a baby feeding gift, put together a feeding supply basket. Just grab a variety of feeding items and neatly display them in a decorated basket.
One of the most important things a new mom will need is baby safety items. She will need crib cushions, socket covers, a baby monitor, and plenty of other stuff. And once again, you won’t have to put out a lot of cash for these gifts. For instance, you can get socket covers or cabinet locks at a dollar store! And though they are very cheap, the new mom will definitely get a lot of use out of them.
Here are some other important tips about gift registries: Make sure that when you pay for the gift, the cashier scans your list. This is crucial because it lets both the mom and the other guests know what gift was already purchased. You can have your item scanned whether you buy it at the store or online. Also, have fun while you’re shopping around! Selecting a baby shower gift should not be hard work. Just think about how happy the expectant mom will be when she tears off that wrapping paper.
Happy shopping!!
