If you are one of the millions who have always dreamed of a flat belly, and a six pack abs, there is good news for you - now you do not have to go through the grueling power crunches routine every day. There are other, easier ways to get that envied flat belly.

1. Diet changes: - Small diet changes can do wonders in removing that bulge around your middle. Eat more often and eat fewer calories. Small portions distributed throughout the day will keep your metabolism levels high throughout the day, and thus you will burn more calories. Try eating fewer calories than you are burning. Also, drink more water. You might be mistaking thirst for hunger pangs.

2. Exercise: - Diet without exercise will only make you loose weight initially. Subsequently, you are sure to hit a plateau, when you just will not be able to loose any more weight. A mix of cardio exercise will help you loose weight. You must make sure that you spend some time for warm ups and cool downs before and after your exercise regime.

3. Calm down: - Cortisol is a hormone which makes you gain weight around your middle. High levels of stress increases the Cortisol levels. Try deep breathing exercises and meditation. With lower stress levels, your body Cortisol level will also remain in control.

4. Skip alcohol: - Alcohol is also known to increase Cortisol levels. Thus if you stop having that glass of alcohol with your meal, your Cortisol level will not increase beyond the required level. Skipping alcohol will ensure that you don't gain weight around your middle.

5. Quit smoking: - Larger numbers of smokers are found to have pot bellies than non smokers. Research has found that smokers tend to loose the fat around their bellies when the stopped smoking.

6. Eat fiber rich diet: - Fiber rich diet gives you a fuller feeling and also prevent constipation.

7. Drink as much water as you can.

8. Have adequate calcium supplements so that your bones remain intact and your frame doesn't slump around your middle.

9. You must increase your heart rate by exercising in order to burn up fat, along with crunches. Only crunches will never get you the flat belly you always dreamed of. Brisk walk, jogging, aerobics, etc are a few exercises which will increase your heart rate.

10. Practice correct posture: - Correct posture will also make your pot belly look smaller. You must stand straight, and sit upright. Do not hunch.

11. A few household activities like gardening, vacuuming, dancing etc will help you loose your paunch.

Most of all it is important for you to stick to the fitness regime that you have chosen and not leave it midway.
