What most of us do not know is that these can be used as natural fertilizers which are far better when processed safely and properly than the conventional ones.

Indeed, a waste is a waste; however there are lots of values we can get on processing animal waste. However, prior to any of these, our safety should always be considered and should come first. Wearing safety gears such as a hand glove and a gas mask will help us stay away from the harmful pathogens that are present on every animal waste. As a common sense though, no person in their good senses will touch or try to pick up a waste without using something to get it and put it away.

Although there are many ways on how to get rid of animal waste, composting is still the best option on how to positively eliminate waste. In organic farming or gardening, composting is considered as the oldest technique of getting natural fertilizer that can be used to supplement the growth of plants. Various biodegradable materials are thrown on holes made on the ground or on fabricated containers where kitchen waste and other decomposed materials are poured. In the earlier years, animal waste or manure is used as fertilizer on farms due to the nutrients that can be extracted after the process of decomposition.
• Container – this may depend on the area available for composting. For smaller areas, containers or compost bins are recommended as they can save space. On the other end, you can dig holes on the ground if you have the liberty of using large area of your property. There might be small differences from these containers; however both of them share the same goal and objective of properly decomposing the material placed inside.
• Waste – all sorts of waste are put inside the hole or container which are usually placed on hot areas to enable the heat to kill deadly pathogens that are very risky and dangerous to the health of any human being.
• Water – this element is very important in order for the microbes that eat the waste to propagate and live healthier inside the compost bin or pit. However, too much water will kill them in return. Make sure that you are moistening the container properly.
• Oxygen – microbes need this in order to survive and thrive properly on a place. Aeration should be done at least once a week to ensure healthy microbes.
• Effective Microorganisms (EM) – these are types of bacteria that are quite beneficial in terms of composting as they help on speeding up the process. With the intervention of these tiny organisms, a month of composting can be cut into two weeks or less depending on the condition of the compost pit’s environment and the number or propagation of the microbes.
