To illustrate the above case, consider the below error message that appears while opening PowerPoint presentation:
“Part of the file is missing”
After the above error message appears, the PPT file does not open, leading to complete loss of data saved in the file. The same error message appears every time you try to open your PowerPoint presentation.
Cause:
The above error message appears when the PowerPoint presentation is corrupted.
Resolution:
To get past the above error message and to access the data saved in your PPT file, follow the below guidelines:
1.Drag your PowerPoint presentation to PowerPoint program file.
2.If you are unable to drag then try and insert all the slides of your PowerPoint presentation in a blank presentation.
3.If the slides do not move to a blank presentation, then try to open temporary file version of your PowerPoint presentation.
4.If that is also not possible, then move your PowerPoint presentation to another system or hard drive.
5.If all the above measures fail, then run ScanDisk to repair cross-linked files.
6.If ScanDisk also fails to perform, then restore the PowerPoint presentation from an updated backup. However, in case of no backup, use a commercial recover powerpoint application to repair the corrupt PowerPoint presentation. A PPT Recovery utility employs effective scanning techniques to repair any logically corrupted PPT file. The application also provides the user an option to save the repaired file at specified location.
