Fix Your Own Credit! Boost Your Score Above 620 to Get A Mortgage! I hear it all the time; "I fell below the 620 credit score that most banks want to see to get an FHA mortgage." For people that are motivated enough there is still time to boost your own score where it needs to be to get a mortgage! For first time home buyers there is a NICE TAX INCENTIVE. You may have been directed to an Attorney or Credit Repair Company, but the cost can be a little steep. Some companies charge in upwards of 2000 DOLLARS! Although I think that some of these companies out there are providing a great service, who can afford it? The Federal Trade Commission says that Self-Help may be the best when it comes to Credit Repair. I tend to agree. With so many false promise companies out there its hard to know when your being 'taken for a ride.' Plus, your giving an organization your WHOLE IDENTITY! Do you really want to give all that information away to a company that may not know what their doing?

The problem is that the informational resources that the Three Main Bureaus give you is inadequate to say the least. The Credit Scores that they hold for ransom unless you pay at the so-called FREE sites is often much higher than what a bank credit report is going to show. Who cares what their number says or about the singing pirates in commercials! (Nice job making funny commercials about how your service ruins peoples lives, great job Mr. Credit Bureau) They're not the ones giving you a mortgage!

So, I know that it can seem confusing or easier to just hire someone out there to do it for you, but there are many great resources and community organizations that can help you Raise Your Credit Score Yourself. You can do better than anyone else and SAVE MONEY! YES. BETTER.

It's not the end of the world if your credit is suffering. You can take steps to correct the bad items on your credit with helpful resources. If your motivated enough you'll get there, but you better hurry, the tax incentive is for 2009.
