Finned tubes are used within tube type heat exchangers to make the heat transfer between the inside and outside of the heat exchanger. Finned tubes can also be called finned pipe. Finned pipes and tubes are available in various sizes, shapes and materials. It can also be called finned pipe.

Finned tubes must be able to transfer heat well the finned tube or pipe material must have thermal conductivity. Types of finned tubing for various applications, if required for heavy-duty operation as well. Such tubes are used for production of all types of air coolers, condensers, gas coolers, drying units, etc.

Different type of material can be used in formation of finned tube heat exchanger like copper, aluminium, stainless steel, admiralty brass, cupro-nickel or carbon steel.
