The following scenario illustrates one such problem that can occur while upgrading to Windows 7. Consider you use Windows Vista or XP. Next, you try to upgrade to Windows 7, but the operation cannot continue properly as you receive the below error message:
“Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance.”
This error usually occurs if the Windows 7 installation disc is corrupted. As the corrective measure of this specific problem, you download the Windows 7 ISO file. Additionally, you experience some unexpected symptoms such as:
You cannot boot into Windows 7 and rollback the system
You try to boot in Safe Mode and select the 'Last known good configuration' that enables you to boot in Windows 7
After logging in Windows 7, you observe most of the data missing from the disk partitions. Though you may be able to see the folder, but not the files.
