1. Looking for postcard templates. The first step in this case of postcard printing would be to look for postcard templates. Where do you find them? Well, you can typically look for them online. Just use a search engine to look for “postcard templates” and you should see plenty of websites that offer them. Typically these are online printing websites that offer free downloads of templates. Of course, if you want a more physical type of template, some stationery stores and office supply shops also offer blank postcards or postcard templates. You can buy them in individually sometimes if you need to print only a couple.
2. Acquiring postcard templates. Now, in the case of acquiring them, for the online printing websites, it is just a matter of downloading them into your computer. Typically the templates are free so you do not have to worry about paying for it. Of course for the stationery store, you might need to pay for the templates per piece. You might want to use that for printing tests but, I recommend using the free downloadable template though too, since it can help in the layout of your custom postcard.
3. Using templates for your designs. To use the templates for your design, you simple need to place your postcard image in the appropriate place on the color postcard. It should more or less cover one whole side of the postcard, unless you want to place a border. At the other side, your templates should have the typical locations mapped out for the stamp, the message and some writing lines. Just customize these elements if you want them to change. It may take some skill in design software though to do this.
4. Printing your simple postcards. Finally, with your design ready after editing the template, you can now print your color postcards. The best and easiest way to print postcards would be to print them using your own printer if it is good enough. If however you plan on mass producing your postcards, it might be good to hire a postcard printing service. There are many of these services online, including the site where you might have downloaded your postcard template. Simply setup your order, send your design and pay for the printing. In a few days you should get all your postcards printed and delivered to your house or office.
