Easter signifies new hope and fresh starts. For Christians, Easter signifies the divinity of Jesus when he rose from the dead. For others, Easter is also special as it signifies the end of the cold winter and opens to the new life of Spring. This is why Easter rituals consist of worship and afterwards, celebration. One common ritual followed during Easter is the Easter mass. This is followed by egg hunts, luncheon and fun programs for the family. Parents, girls and boys wear their best dresses and suits during the festive holiday.

Another common icon of Easter is the Easter basket. The baskets are not only for holding eggs found during the egghunt. These baskets can be prepared to contain goodies that will delight girls and boys, and their parents as well.

If you are hosting the Easter luncheon or program, or would simply want to make easter more enjoyable for your children, prepare Easter baskets with goodies that the children will enjoy even though more holidays come long after easter.

Here are some suggestions when preparing the Easter basket:
• Determine the number of children to give number of baskets to
• Find baskets of suitable size for each child.
• Line basket with colorful tissue or soft paper. Decorate edges or handle with ribbons or flowers if you wish.
• Also strew leaves or grass if desired.
• Since easter is primarily a religious holiday, include a small prayer book for children. For those applicable, you may also add small religious items like rosary beads or rosary ring.
• Add colorful eggs. Choose from real painted ones or colored plastic eggs with toys inside, or egg-shaped candies.
• You may also put in a cute stuffed bunny or chick.
• A small coloring book with bunnies or eggs or symbols of spring will also entertain the child when the easter program is over. Add a small box of crayons so the child can start on the coloring book immediately.
• Pocket sized story books about bunnies, eggs, spring or hope are perfect additions to the goodies, and they are educational as well.

Surely, the Easter basket will be enjoyed by the children when they see how prettily decorated it is, and the colorful goodies inside!
