First what is DHT?
DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) is a natural metabolite of the human body and is the main reason for natural hair loss. Many doctors agree that DHT causes hair loss and I will explain how.

The main reason for hair loss in both men and women are caused by hormonal changes in the body, this happens, as we get older. These hormonal changes alter the bodies metabolism of a hormone called Androgen. Androgen plays a huge role in the bodies ability to grow hair or lose hair. When produced the androgen reacts with an enzyme called 5 alpha reductase, which then combines with the male hormone, testosterone to create DHT.

Secondly you need to understand the hair follicle itself. Each follicle has a dermal papilla, which is responsible for the hair growth. The main cell of the dermal papilla divides and differentiates to form a new hair follicle. To do this the dermal papilla gathers nutrients that are brought to it through the blood stream. It is very important for a person to have proper nutrition to maintain hair. Also the dermal papilla has many receptors for Androgen. Men have many more receptors then women, which is why more men lose hair then women.

So how does DHT effect hair loss? When DHT reaches the hair follicles and dermal papilla, it attaches and prevents proteins, vitamins and minerals from providing the needed nourishment starving the hair follicles to a point where, the hair follicles tend to reproduce at a slower rate and this in turn either shortens the growing phase called Anagen or lengthens its resting stage called the Catagen phase. This starving (miniaturization) of the follicle will shrink the hair follicle causing it to become smaller and finer and eventually fall out. This is noticed when you look in the mirror or even more embarrassing a friend tells you. You will notice things like more hair in the sink or in the hairbrush or even on your furniture.

Not everyone is the same so genetically DHT will be produced more in some people then in others.

There are different type of treatments that can actually block the DHT from attaching to the dermal papilla and cure both male pattern and female pattern hair loss. These treatments are called DHT Blockers and are usually in a pill form or topical solution.

The best way to block DHT is from the inside let me explain how. Proven DHT blockers have all the required vitamins and nutrients needed to Jump-start the hair follicles from the Catagen (Resting) phase and are brought directly to the dermal papilla via the blood stream. Again use only proven DHT Blockers like those offered at my #1 Resource.
