Exercise is considered essential as part of a healthy lifestyle and this comes as no surprise when you weigh up the benefits to your health via regular exercise. For a start taking part in regular exercise can maintain overall fitness as well as manage weight loss but it can also lower the risk of many life threatening illnesses.

Any form of exercise that you partake in, whether it is simply a 30 minute brisk walk, swimming, cycling or running as well as aerobics you are allowing yourself a longer life expectancy as well as an overall better quality of life. Exercise is also one of the most effective ways of losing weight and keeping it off; however exercise not only has a physical benefit it can also be of a big help to you mentally. This is because exercise is a proven way of helping people deal with depression and can stimulate a better emotional well being.

Frequent and regular exercise helps to prevent many health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and obesity as well as helping to boost your immune system. It has been proven that people who take no form of regular are cutting there life expectancy by as much as someone who smokes. However, even after hearing all of the benefits that exercise can bring you many people are still reluctant to take up a form of exercise; the two main reasons for this being that people think exercise is expensive and they feel that they have no time to undertake exercise; however both of these excuses are poor. You don’t have to join a gym to exercise, walking instead of driving is exercise, doing the housework at a faster past is exercising; both of these are costing you nothing and neither are taking up anymore of your time. Doing 30 minutes of exercise a day doesn’t have to cost you anything and it can all be done during your normal day routine.

When you are choosing your form of exercise you should decide on one that reflects your interests and personality and one that you will be able to do 30 minutes of in a day. Whatever exercise you choose you are involving your muscles to generate movement and regular exercise can increase muscle size, strength and endurance.

As well as different forms of exercise there are also different levels of endurance from light to vigorous. Light exercise means that you should be able to perform your exercise but still be able to talk at the same time. Examples of what is meant by light exercise include going for a walk or gardening. After light exercise comes moderate exercise, which should make you feel slightly worn out then comes vigorous exercise, which should make you breathe rapidly, and you should feel like you are just at the point where you are pushing your body's boundaries, without doing yourself any harm. Jogging, cycling, swimming and weight training are all vigorous forms of exercise.

Just make sure that you don’t push yourself too hard when you start exercising. It is always a good idea to start off small and work your way up to doing a form of exercise that is harder on yourself.
