Do You Have A Sense Of Entitlement?

Our sense of entitlement must be kept in check. We can certainly chase our dreams, but we must understand the process. We must put in a lot of time and hard work before ANYTHING happens. We cannot just ditch the day job and expect our new home business to carry us through.

I sometimes feel a sense of entitlement, believing that I deserve a better life. Can you relate? I guess that is what goads us on to make improvements in ourselves and our lives. In a way, it is not necessarily a bad thing, but it can be taken to the extreme.

For example, my brother-in-law has quit several jobs because he didn’t feel that he was paid enough for his efforts. As a result, he would go for months on end with no income at all. He seemed to think that no income was better than too little income.

We all know that he should have kept his current job until he found a better paying source of income, but he took it to the extreme. His sense of entitlement is so extreme that he feels it is beneath him to work for wages that he believes are unsatisfactory.

Thankfully, most of us usually keep the feeling that we “deserve more” in check. We look for ways to make more money and improve our lives, but we don’t sabotage ourselves in the process. A good example of this is working a full-time job while we pursue a career in network marketing.

Most of us in this business work regular jobs until our home business income surpasses that of our jobs. Even though we want, and maybe even deserve, more out of life, we know that certain steps must be taken to get there.

If you let your sense of entitlement overtake you, you may make some serious mistakes. You may begin to think that you deserve to become wealthy quickly and that everyone you know should help you obtain riches.

You may become unscrupulous and pressure your friends to join your business and buy your products. You may treat people rudely who don’t see things your way. I have seen this happen to people in this business. They become extremely upset when someone in their downline quits, and they won’t take “no” for an answer when a prospect declines the opportunity.

Be careful to not let your ambition cloud your thinking. Do not forget to treat people with kindness and understanding no matter how they feel about your business and your products. We may deserve to become financially free and kiss the old job goodbye, but not at the expense of others.

Our sense of entitlement must be kept in check. We can certainly chase our dreams, but we must understand the process. We must put in a lot of time and hard work before ANYTHING happens. We cannot just ditch the day job and expect our new home business to carry us through.

So, take your time, pay your dues, and keep things in perspective. A better life is possible, but only if you take things one step at a time.
