There are a lot of different methods of recording BBC iPlayer apart from one. BBC iplayer is the first of the platforms developed to allow internet users to watch archived streaming BBC programmes. Channels 4 and 5 also have this service, but in a much more limited way, and some of their programmes cost money – BBC iPlayer is free.
Best features: can be downloaded to watch later (this uses up boring train journeys really well), or streaming can be watched.
User can catch up on BBC channels that aren't shown on terrestrial - BBCs 3 and 4. User can also listen to BBC radio shows again, which can be downloaded to an MP3 player/iPod. BBC iPlayer can be watched in a small window, or full screen.
Most programmes only go on for a week and some are not available at all. Sound, picture quality and sticky programs are sometimes a hassle. BBC iPlayer only has shows for the last 7 days. It only covers BBC programmes. It is reliant on a fast reliable broadband connection (not much the beed can do about that though). BBC iPlayer is not as good as watching it on TV. BBC iPlayer is only 7 days worth on there. Technical problems can sometimes arise; it can only have the shows for a certain amount of time. BBC iPlayer sometimes malfunctions but that's very rare. There is slow streaming sometimes. The streaming isn't always as smooth as desired, and if the volume is adjusted in full-screen mode, it reverts to a small screen automatically; in full screen mode the picture quality can suffer a little. It is expensive although prices are on their way down. Not all models of BBC iPlayer have backwards compatibility. High failure rate, often exceeding 50% (again these values change from year to year). Uses HD DVD's which are a little outdated and can hold less data than Blue-ray. Controllers are powered by batteries (but you can get wired ones). A wifi adaptor has to be bought to play wireless. There are monthly charges of using xbox live.
