Digital signage mounts are a vital part of the airport experience

Walking through an airport these days, passengers can’t help but notice the array of flat panels mounted to the walls in baggage claim areas, throughout terminal halls and at check-in kiosks.

Flat panel monitors display flight status information, allow travelers to catch up on the latest news and direct arriving passengers to the correct baggage carousel. Whatever their use, they are a vital part of the airport experience.

What many travelers may not notice, however, are the flat panel mounting solutions—literally—behind it all.

At the Delta Airlines terminal in Atlanta, flat panel and digital signage mounts play an integral role in ensuring passengers get to their destinations on time. The terminal’s mounting needs were a bit more complex than the average installation:

1. First, the terminal needed wall mounts that were easy and quick to install.
2. Next, the mounting solution had to have VESA® standard hole patterns to ensure future versatility.
3. Third, mounts had to keep cables and cords out of sight.
4. Lastly, the terminal needed custom digital signage mounts that could be installed on an existing glass wall behind the ticket counter.

Chief Manufacturing dealer Pen-Tech was called in to devise a solution. The company installed a variety of Chief mounts for flight information displays, gate information displays, baggage claim displays and the main lobby. MTVR™ Universal Tilt Wall Mounts, installed in portrait mode to display gate information, tackled the first three issues: The MTRV can be quickly installed, it features built-in cable management and it offers multiple VESA hole mounting patterns.
The final requirement—a custom mount for the glass wall—was more challenging but not impossible. Pen-Tech used a custom-designed PRO™ Lockable Tilt Wall Mount, with legs shortened to match the bolt hole patterns on the wall.

Digital signage mounting solutions, like the one at the Delta Airlines Terminal in Atlanta, stay hidden to the eye while keeping those vital displays visible to all. So the next time you find yourself at an airport glancing at a mounted flat panel, remember it’s what you don’t see that’s truly impressive.
