Depression after retirement is a common problem. Many people, especially those who are career oriented and devoted their full life to their work and neglected other activities, suddenly feel emptiness and despair when they retire.
People after retirement feel that they have lost their purpose for living, that they are of no value and do not have a role to play in society.
For people who are frequently in the spotlight, the problem may be more complicated.
Some tips to prevent depression after retirement:
Give time to spouse, and family sit with them memorize past precious memories which gone are in back by the period of time. Give time to grand children, play with them, become like with a child with them Keep busy in some social activity if you have interest and can’t afford to do it because of lack of time. One of the best ways to keep loneliness, depression away from life is to stay involved with others.
Give some time to hobbies like painting, reading books, writing some article or poem, gardening, playing music etc which you always thought to do but time boundaries not allowed you. Sharing a hobby with others who have the same interest makes easy and enjoyable at this period Make life enjoyable after retirement by just planning some things to do before it.
And of course some things like shopping, or visiting any place requires money so just plan and invest some money for retirement which will reward you pleasant life after retirement also.
